Did I Break It? |

Hey, everyone -
In order to install the latest version of Wordpress for the upcoming podcast, I needed to upgrade PHP to version 5.
Since the forum (read: the entire damn site) has been utilizing the previous version, there's a chance it might've broken something.
So if you notice anything in particular not working on the forums, PM me and I'll look into it.

Clevenger Essay: The Devil in the Details |

Fellow scribes, now live over at The Cult: The Official Chuck Palahniuk Website, Craig Clevenger drops some knowledge on you with his essay, "The Devil in the Details." Some of this material forms the basis of his acclaimed workshop intensives, and will have you sharpening your prose faster than you can say "heretical dermaphoric contortionist."
Topics covered include showing versus telling, "slot machine memory," and creating depth through conflict/contrast and active subject-verb descriptions.

Review: The Abyss of Human Illusion by Gilbert Sorrentino |
|
Feb 21, 2010 - 4:53 PM - by JesseLawrence

Sometimes, usually in regards to artistic endeavors, people talk of the human condition. Honestly, I've never understood this. Isn't that just a fancy way of saying something is human? At best, we're a mass of emotions made flesh, and at worst we are deeply flawed, chaotic and messed up. Hmm.
The Abyss of Human Illusion was begun in 2003, with a first draft "mostly complete" in 2005 when Gilbert Sorrentino was diagnosed with cancer. The book was worked on in his final months and referred to, by himself, as "my last book." It was finished a few weeks before his death in May 2006.
