Scarlett Johansson - Amazing Album or What?

Unfortunately; what.

It's a cover album, through and through, the songs sound like covers, her torpid voice is stifled by what I can only assume is a production assistant ruing the day he signed on for the job, I don't mean to insult her - more criticise the awful album - but she's somehow managed to extract every ounce of character from the couple of songs she's chosen and make them a chore to listen to. Whatever departure they were aiming for - and all praise to them for the departure - the album still sounds like tepid shoegaze. But what exactly were we expecting?

We're long lost brothers or something, corellion. Pretty much every opinion you've put down in the various forums, I've shared.

The album is terrible, which is a shame because Johanssen's voice is actually fantastic (download her cover of Sublime's "Summertime"). I blame production 90% for this album's quality. They took her voice and tried to Waits-ify it, when they should have just let her use it in a more natural way.

The other 10% can be credited to Johanssen not having a backbone and demanding she do her thing.

I just listened to the sample from Amazon of her version of "I Don't Want to Grow Up." Don't do that.

Perhaps we're convex and concave images of a greater being, of which we are both simply a distorted shape, snagged and existentially flickering on the fractured spine of reality's supine membrane?

There appears to be an incorrigible and suspicious susurrus sewn surreptitiously into the arrangements. No worries, lads, I shall indagate its source, excogitate a decoding process, and discover what, if aught, this clandestine under-sound offers the world.

The Candle Commission is hereby commenced!

That's even better than a crack commando unit who've been sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit who would promptly escape from said maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground and today, still wanted by the government, they'd survive as soldiers of fortune, and, if we had a problem, if no one else could help, and if we could find them, maybe we could have them turned down in favour of your fantastic offer and unbeatable price!
